1-2-3…Get Organized Review And Giveaway

One of my New Year’s resolutions was to become a more organized person. I have never had the need to get organized…or so I thought. Because I kept pushing this off I became surrounded by clutter everywhere, in every area of my life my office, my kitchen, my kids rooms, everywhere. I was lost and had no idea how to start getting things cleaned up and decluttered.
How lucky was I to be contacted by Beverly Coggins, professional organizer and author of the great set of books, the 1-2-3…Get Organized series. What perfect timing, and can I say that these books are set up to not be daunting? I am serious they are small, short (ranging from 23-32 pages) and very precise that after i read them I was ready to take on the world… okay, maybe not the world, but at least my office space and kitchen.
The complete series consists of the following:
- Three Steps to Decluttering
- Three Steps to Organizing Your Office
- Three Steps to Time Management at the Office
- Three Steps to Clever Cleaning
- Three Steps to Organizing Your Kitchen
- Three Steps to Organizing Your Child’s Room
- Three Steps to Time Management for the Stay at Home Mom
These books are amazing and offer an array of ways to take charge of things and get the clutter under control. The first thing I started on was my “office” area. You would not believe the piles of things everywhere, which always leads to frustration when my toddler comes along and pulls everything down. So that was a great starting point for me. So after saying goodbye to the clutter and all that I never even used or needed and actually designating areas for everything that I have going on, I feel like I can breathe again in my little space.
From “What matters most” to “Making a plan that works” and finally “Cheating time – getting more than 60 minutes out of an hour”, I moved on to my kitchen and I will say the tips in this book helped me prioritize what I needed, what I didn’t need and what I never even used (who knew I had 5 cork screws?), to make my kitchen look more like a kitchen and not a catch-all room.
I am so pleased with this series and I have learned so many new tips from reading these books that I am happy to say that with the help of Beverly Coggins (who is also offering a new coaching service that ties in with the new year – rethinking your life.) I am able to offer a Dirty Shirt reader a set of three books from this series. These will be the three up for grabs:

I really need to find some organization for my STUFF,meaning spatially I have enough room for everything but I have no idea where to put it all.I know the obvious stuff,but what about the not so obvious stuff?

I need help with everything – I feel like I’m running crazy most of the time – always late and stuff only half done. I have a small business in my home – so I think the most helpful would be time management in the office. I go between work, laundry, dishes, carpooling, etc. I need to set some boundaries for when it is “office” time and really accomplish something during that time.

This is our family’s decluttering year! We have lived in this home for over 5 years and more is still in boxes than unpacked! Each of our two sons have just rearranged their rooms and we got rid and donated a lot of stuff! Also, I am a stay at home mom and seem to never get enough done or organized. The one area in your life where you need the most help organizing.
I would say everywhere! I had to drop everything and live at my Mom’s house for a few months,she is total care so she isn’t to be left alone so, I have a domano effect for my life because everything I had under control went out the window. I now have to organize everything in my life ,from decluttering,to time management ,clever cleaning because now its two homes and the top one for me organizing my kicthen.

The one area in which I need the most organizing help? There are so many! I used to be extremely organized and have let it go too far the other way. I need to get my desk at home organized so that writing and financial record keeping are easier to do. That would be number one. Next would be organizing the kitchen to make meal planning easier. Then on to the living room, bedrooms, and bath. One step at a time.

My office and family papers. The kids bring home so many things from school, mail, doctors’ appointments and notes. It’s hard keeping everything in order. Also, laundry is a challenge for me. Picking just 1 area of my life that I need to get organized in is too hard. I think I need to re-organize all of my life. The hardest thing that I can think of to get organized is time management. I am a SAHM of four. I homeschool the youngest 2 and I try to keep all of their schedules under control as well as the house. If I could management time better I think I would be a lot less stressed.
