I want to take a minute and talk to you about a serious issue in our lives today, bullying. It has become an epidemic in our society and I have been on both sides of bullying with my son, which you can read here, and I am saddened by the statistics of bullying which has extended onto the internet and social media. One of the problems that I would like to see resolved is others getting the person being bullied help. You don’t have to just step up and confront the person being the bully, but if you see someone being bullied get a grown up, teacher, counselor, parent but let someone know what is going on so they can step in and dissolve the situation or get the right person to help.

One way to help kids understand this is from a great new game called Awesome Upstander where you have the power of your friends to STOP the bully before it’s too late! This is a brilliant game that teaches a child what to do in a case of bullying and shows the true power of friends.

The game has you racing through cafeterias and bathrooms to rescue a target from the bully. Collect bananas, air fresheners, and rolls of toilet paper to up your score, but hurry! Time is ticking, and you have to find and collect enough friends to stand up to the bully together.

I love that this game shows the strengths of friends and how they can help stop bullying. If you read my story you see that I stepped up to do something I never in a million years thought that I would ever have to do, but I did it, I stepped in and helped. It just takes one student, friends or even a complete stranger to get help when help is needed. This is an extremely important topic to share with your kids. I am also happy to see that half of all sales of the Awesome Upstander game app this month benefits these anti-bullying groups:

KIND CampaignKind Campaign is an internationally recognized movement, documentary and school program based upon the powerful belief in KINDness that brings awareness and healing to the negative and lasting effects of girl-against-girl “crime.”

TruthLockerThis free message archiving app can be used when you are attacked by a cyberbully. When this kind of drama happens deleting it from your phone keeps it private, but it erases the truth. TruthLocker keeps all your texts, photos, Facebook messages and Tweets stored for your safety and privacy in case ignoring the bully doesn’t work.

Head over to get the app today and help put a stop to bullying.
