Now I know I have been slacking in posting about BlogHer 10′, I think I finally have some spark in my brain after a very overwhelming trip to NYC and am ready to go. And I am kind of doing things a bit backwards but I wanted to let you know about the biggest highlight of my trip.
I attended BlogHer 10′ to finally meet some of the PR reps that I have worked with for the past few years, connect with new ones and in general have face time with everyone I could. I had a meeting scheduled with Microsoft and I was actually nervous! This is one company that has a HUGE presence in my life from computers to gaming and so much more. I had never worked with them before and I was hoping to make a good impression. Let me just say that that meeting alone has changed the way that I work. But let me back up a second.
My husband has been talking about the Windows Phone 7 for many months now, and when he did I was always like, “Yeah, yeah, but it won’t make me change from my BlackBerry” or “Glad you are finally excited for a smartphone”. I always just brushed off his excitement as he was looking at the Windows Phone 7 from a programmers standpoint, which was because he wants to make apps for it. Don’t you just hate when you have to tell your husband he was right?
Well that was exactly what I had to do because while I was waiting for my meeting I wandered over to the Windows Phone 7 demo to see what all my husband’s fuss was, and that is where I instantly fell in love….with the phone! OMG!!! was all I could think as I sat there with my mouth hanging open, listening to all this amazing phone will be able to do! I probably came across as weird as I quietly leaned over and touched it, I proudly stated “Now I can tell my husband that I actually touched a Windows Phone 7!” I got a laugh from that and then the PR rep did one better. She handed me the phone, took my BlackBerry and snapped a picture of me holding it. To which I proceeded to send it out over Twitter telling my husband that I had to admit defeat, he was right, I love the Windows Phone 7!! One of my favorite things was that I can now carry my XBOX Live Gamertag and Avatar with me, as a gamer that is one sweet feature!!!!
After the phone demo I moved on to my meeting. What I learned at this meeting has changed the way I blog, the way I organize my pictures and even the way I crop and fix up my images. I will be covering all this over the course of the next year as I was given the amazing opportunity to blog for Microsoft about Windows 7 and all the features that go above and beyond what I ever knew a operating system could do. Through all of my blogging about everything that I learn I was given a Eee PC (which I fell in love with) with Windows 7. Please stayed tuned for tips, tricks and information as I uncover things I did not know about Windows 7.
This meeting was so above what I thought it would be and I am absolutely thrilled to be working on this project. With Windows 7 my entire outlook on computers has changed. And above all, I want to say thank you to Microsoft for giving me a year long campaign so I can learn and in some cases even teach, but more importantly for seeing the value of a long-term, meaningful relationship with me!
I am working on a year-long campaign for Windows 7 and was provided with a Eee PC to help me along the way.
