This fun, new children’s book will go a long way towards teaching kids about the threats to our environment and getting them to take action at home, at school and in their community. Curse of the Bone Pirates is set in a place deep in the South Pacific Ocean on exotic, fictional Nui Island. It has everything other books like it have: adventure, wonderment and sinister and lovable characters.
However, it goes one step further. Woven into the plot are lessons on conservation, environmentalism and healthy eating. These lessons are revealed through the eyes of 6th grader “Big B” Brett Harrington, challenging his city-life views while he adapts to the island’s environmentally conscious culture.
My daughter and I read this book together and we loved it! Not only was it a great way to share an educational book with her but it was a special bonding time for us as we each took turns reading a chapter. My daughter loved the Big B character and all the adventures.
