Evenflo is putting a spotlight on toddler nutrition with its innovative new Smart Steps™ toddler feeding line, designed to specifically address childhood obesity and eating disorders. Developed in collaboration with top nutrition experts from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Smart Steps offers parents a simple solution to fostering lifelong healthy eating habits by providing products for each age and stage of a child’s eating development.
Through the use of an Eating Arc, Smart Steps addresses the various ways in which parents load their toddlers’ plates with food at mealtime and offers specific product solutions from one of three categories: Knowing Portions, Exploring Food, and Serving Myself. Each category is centered on basic principles that help nurture healthy eating habits and align with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) guidelines related to toddler feeding.
Smart Steps is a proud partner in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s MyPyramid.gov Corporate Challenge and Project M.O.M., which are dedicated to improving family nutrition, ending childhood obesity and transforming the way American families eat.
Portion Plate
Stage: Knowing Portions & Exploring Food
- Proper portion sizes identified on plates with colors and graphics.
- 2 pack plates with 2 dipping cups that can be placed in many locations on the plates.
- Cups hold the child’s favorite dip or sauce. Cups can also be used to encourage picky eaters to try new foods. Either use of the cups – dipping or sampling, will allow the child to explore new foods.
- Plate conveniently becomes a lid when turned over to allow storage of leftovers.
- Plates easily stack for storage.
- Slip resistant base for fewer spills.
- Without Bisphenol-A (BPA).
I tried this plate with my toddler and I used the dipping cups to put ranch dressing for her carrot sticks and she loves it. I even put some spinach in one of them and was happy to say she ate it, because she certainly didn’t eat it for me when it was just on her plate. One bonus to using this plate besides the portion monitoring of it is the fact that she learned here blue, yellow and green colors and can point to each color and say the word. I was so happy with that.
Insulated Cup
Stage: Exploring Food
- Valve is incorporated into the spout. Simply squeeze spout to release fluid.
- Innovative neoprene sleeve keeps drinks cool or warm longer. Easy grip handles are incorporated into the sleeve.
- Hygienic spout cover included for traveling.
- Removable, machine-washable insulated cover.
- Larger cup designed for an older toddler.
- No separate valve to clean or lose.
- Non-spill – 100% leak-proof.
- Without Bisphenol-A (BPA).
- 14 oz. (415ml)
This sippy cup has become one of my daughters favorites. I mean sometimes she will point at it and say “juice” to let me know she wants to use this cup. My favorite thing about this cup is that it has the sleeve that keeps drinks cooler longer. My toddler loves her juice cold and I have seen on more than one occasion her not drink out of her cup once it losing that chill. But not with this one. It keeps the liquid cool until she finishes it. And I love that the valve is not separate, you don’t know how many valves I have lost!
Soft Touch Feeding Spoons
Stage: Knowing Portions
- Temperature sensitive spoon with a soft-tip for baby’s tender gums.
- Spoon changes color when food is hot so parent can check if temperature is right for your child.
- Shallow spoon ergonomically designed for easy removal of food.
- Long handle for parent to comfortably feed child.
- Flat spoon makes feeding easier.
- 3 pack spoon set.
- Without Bisphenol-A (BPA).
These spoons have definitely helped my daughter learn how to handle her food and feed herself, something she is most proud of and smiles about everytime she manages to get the food to her mouth without spilling it. Love the fact that the tips change color if food is too hot for her to eat and that fact has helped me teach her hot and cold. She now says “hot” when it cahnges color and knows that she should not eat it.
All in all these are well rounded feeding supplies that not only help your kids eat better with portion sizes but also teaches them to feed themselves. I recommend the Evenflo Smart Steps products to everyone.

Great review! I had never even heard of these, but think they would be ideal for those early feeding stages. Thanks for sharing.
Hi I am having problems with the cover for the sippy cup.
It just won’t click on.
Any hints?
What am I doing wrong?
