The true story of a California couple on the brink of separation who unexpectedly find love again on the Italian Riviera.
As soon as Susan and Tim Pohlman wrap up their business trip in Italy, they plan to start divorce proceedings. They have just one day to spend together with no agenda before they go home to California to get on with their separate lives.
During that one day, however, Susan feels a nudge to give the marriage another try. She tries to resist it, but Tim feels the same push. Everything falls into place, and they agree to give their marriage and their family one more chance. Maybe a year in Italy can heal old wounds.
Together with their fourteen-year-old daughter Katie and their eleven-year-old son Matt, they trade in a luxury car waiting for them for the bus, giant supermarkets for small crowded shops, and their breakneck Los Angeles pace for a relaxed, slower life.
Susan and Tim spend days-not just minutes in the morning and at night-shopping, cooking, playing and riding Vespas! As they assume new roles, there is plenty of friction and fun in learning to live together again.
Here is a book to be savored as you dream of unplugging the telephone, television, and computer, and actually spend time with your family. This is a story to be emulated and enjoyed. Halfway to Each Other is the remarkable story of an ordinary American family that inspires and offers hope that all of us who find the courage to listen to our hearts and follow our dreams can experience a new beginning.
This book is an amazing journey through life, a life that is important enough to give another try. I felt like I was part of the Pohlman family as I read through each chapter, I felt they were becoming a part of me. I was a ball of emotions as they took each new step back into each others arms. I couldn’t put it down and was instantly jealous of their ability to spend a year in Italy but at the same time relieved that I didn’t have their need to do so. I loved this book from the front cover to the back cover and it is just proof that if you work hard at something you will be rewarded! I recommend everyone taking a step back from their busy lives and while you are relaxing and enjoying the quiet read Halfway to Each Other. Great book indeed!

Hi Jennifer:
I was just scolded by my daughter for spelling “so” and “grazie” incorrectly! How embarrassing! I must learn to slow down when I type!
Grazie!
