Hershey’s Simple Pleasures Chocolates Paired With Pinot Noir
In the past I have had wine pairings with cheese and I thought with my new Food & Wine section I would pair a good chocolate with a bottle of good wine. Now, I do know from past experiences, mostly a chocolate dessert after a dinner when I am already drinking wine, that chocolate and wines go well together. My taste in wine may be completely different from that of the person next to me so I set out to find that perfect wine for the Hershey’s Simple Pleasures Milk Chocolates with Chocolate Crème that I received.
Now for milk chocolates a good wine could be a Riesling or a port, but for me I had a particular Pinot Noir in mind for this pairing and nothing was going to sway my choice. I chose Jacob’s Creek Reserve 2010 Pinot Noir and it was a great pairing! It brought the cocoa flavor of the chocolates out and in turn made the pinot taste smooth and very bold, something that made me enjoy both the chocolate and the wine more. I literally couldn’t get enough. The crème inside the chocolates just added a buttery texture to it all…Perfect!!!
I brought my husband over to give it a taste. He isn’t much of a wine drinker but he wanted to see what I was making such a commotion about. He was impressed that the pairing was spot on which left him eating four chocolates and finishing my glass of wine. He said he would definitely drink wine with me if I paired chocolates with it all the time. I think we found our new dessert.
So if you are looking for a great chocolate I suggest you give Hershey’s Simple Pleasures Milk Chocolates a try. At 30% less fat I see that as a win/win for me! I plan on experimenting with Hershey’s other flavors; Dark Chocolate with Chocolate Crème, and Milk Chocolate with Vanilla Crème with some different types of wine. If I find another WOW pairing I will be sure to share it with you all!
