Massive mammals provided an enormous amount of entertainment when Hippos And Rhinos arrived on DVD from Genius Products and Animal Planet. Comprised of four kid-friendly programs:
- Jessica The Hippo – Retired game ranger Tonie Joubert discovered an orphaned newborn hippo and dedicated himself to saving her life. Years later on their South African ranch, Tonie, his wife Shirley, and their beloved Jessica share a bond that seems to defy the laws of nature.
- There’s A Rhino In My House – The incredible story of Jon and Judy Travers and their oversized pet: a rhino named Tatenda.
- Saba And The Rhino’s Secret – Little understood and impossible to study, the private life f rhinos has remained an enigma until now. Saba Douglas-Hamilton walks among the rhinos and reveals their never-before-seen social world.
- That’s My Baby: Cleo The Hippo – Busch Gardens in Florida is expecting their very first baby hippos birth. Brook Rodriguez, the park’s top hippo keeper, is excited to see hippo mom, Cleo, give birth. Once the new baby is born, the hippo family at Busch Gardens will be complete!
Each show features a different super-sized animal and their unique story. Tipping the scales at well over a ton, Hippos And Rhinos provides a playful, unprecedented look at the heavyweight herbivores and the unlikely bonds they can form with humans.
If there is one thing we love here it is animals, and Animal Planet is a channel we watch all the time. My toddler loves learning about new animals as each story is told. With Hippos and Rhinos I think she loves the Hippos most as each time one was on the screen she would squeal and point and say “Reno” (love that she is trying to say new words) This DVD was enjoyed by the whole family and it was a great look into the lives of Hippos and Rhinos. I recommend it to everyone, especially the animal lovers out there. It’s always interesting learning new things about such great creatures.

I love your review, it’s great that there are DVDs like this, for most children this is probably the only way to get to see these animals in their own habitats and it’s educational as well..
