I clearly remember the day we got our first rather large desktop computer and from that day on my life changed. My soon to be husband was explaining that I could use something called email to contact my family in other states and I was hooked. I started exploring all the programs and things the computer could do and slowly an interest to be a part of this latest boom was deeply imbedded in me. I rather disliked the dial-up noises but dealt with them to send emails to my family, create graphics used to sign my emails and to learn all I could about computers.
We had the computer for awhile before I learned that all the pages I was viewing were made with code. Looking at said code gave me a headache and I couldn’t figure it out for nothing so I decided to go back to college and take all the classes I could on HTML and Web Design. I drank it all in and started letting people know I could make websites. I got a few gigs creating sites, and finally landed a job with creating a site and maintaining it on a daily basis. That job lasted two years and brought my family much needed money. All while instilling a love in me of being online and having daily updates, which led me to where I am today.
From then on I ate and slept computers, graduating to a laptop, thanks to my brother-in-law, and becoming mobile with my work. I learned everything I could, and depended heavily on Microsoft products in my work and play. My life was changed and my eyes were opened up to a whole new world. And you know what? I still learn every single day. And I am constantly amazed at how technology has grown over the years. But I am more amazed at how I have grown with technology over the years and I know I could not have accomplished what I have done and continue to do today without my favorite programs; Microsoft Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, OneNote and Excel. They have been a part of my life for as long as I remember. And I am so happy that I can say my entire family relies on these programs as well. I am so proud of my 19 year old, 12 year old and 4 year old and all that they have accomplished on computers and I love that they know more than I did at their ages. Two of my children even went to classes via computer during their homeschooling days.
Today, I am proud to be a Microsoft Windows Champion, a place I would have never dreamed of being 10 years ago. To be able to work closely with other Champions and the amazing people I get to work with has been a dream come true. My life is full of technology and I am doubly blessed to have Microsoft and their products in my life. Store pictures of our growing family! The room we were using for the computer is being turned into a nursery for baby #2! That means we have to find a spot in our house to store the desktop computer. Having a laptop would be so much easier and take up a lot less space!

I have an old PC that is about shot and it is real slow. Not that I’m complaining because this old machine has done me good. I bought this about 10 years ago and XP was the software at the time. I’ve seen the Millennium software, Vista Software and Windows 7 all come out and I’m still running XP. It’s way past due for a new upgrade. I wouldn’t use this laptop. My wife would. She has been very ill lately due to unknown heart conditions. We have been back and forth to many doctors and specialists trying to find a cause. They have came up with nothing at this point. She is unable to stand for any prolonged period of time. Her heart rate will increase to very dangerous levels and she will become extremely weak and light headed. So she has to sit or lay down for most of the day. You can only watch so much tv before you go crazy. Id like to win the laptop for her so she can communicate with her friends and family using video chat or facebook. OMG – I would first of all use it to replace the laptop my twins killed. I work at home on a broke down old laptop. Spacebar doesn’t work half the time, battery life 30 seconds unplugged, plug attachment sketchy at best. So I would use it to work at home (and possibly on the go) without being constantly frustrated!

My computer is beyond being obsolete – it’s back there with the dinosaurs! It is an impossibly slow, time and space consuming desktop behometh that makes me crazy!
I would use this computer – should I be to lucky/blessed and graced – to move into the second decade of the 21st century and start several blogs, get organized work on a long ongoing book projects and move forward with several business ideas.
