How to Have the Perfect Halloween

Halloween to me has always been about the decorations. For years I have been decorating my homes in decorations ranging from the gory to the cute. Cuter more kid friendly decorations have been more my thing as I have younger kids but my home is always decorated. Now I am not saying that my decorations are the best but it is part of what makes my Halloween perfect. I have a few tips that makes this time of year a very fun time.
- Keep it as simple as you can – now I have been known to create some of my own decorations but as life can get busy sometimes simple comes out looking pretty darn good.
- Pick your own pumpkins and gourds – if this is possible for you then you should do it. Pumpkin picking’ is fun and a great way for the whole family to be involved and that way you actually have a hand in choosing your decorations and don’t have to rely on store bought sizes that might not fit in your theme.
- Shop after Halloween – this is what I do to get the best deals on decorations that the store couldn’t sell in time. So I am always raring to go before the next Halloween rolls around.
My family and I always have fun on Halloween but I do have one favorite memory of a Halloween past that just stands out away from the others. It was a few years ago in Illinois, we started the day out going on a hay ride, pumpkin picking’, bobbing for apples, sipping cider and just really enjoying the crispness in the air. We went home and decorated the house in our style and we were ready to go for our Halloween party the next evening. Our decorations that year were simple but effective with lots of fog from our fog machines. The thing I liked out this particular Halloween was that my family as a whole enjoyed every minute of it and having that kind of time with your husband and kids is priceless.
Halloweens past have been about being scared and scaring others (when we were younger) but for us now the change of seasons that Halloween signifies makes it a time that we look forward to every year. Living in Florida we don’t have the typical seasons so the second that cooler air hits us in Central Florida we are in the holiday spirit. When that air hits around Halloween it makes it even better! For me, having the perfect Halloween is all about the decorations, the fun, the family and friends gathering for a party, the foods and most importantly the candy
