iPosture Review And Giveaway

iPosture

The iPosture is an intuitive electronic device designed to improve posture. Just over one inch in diameter, the iPosture automatically senses when the body slouches, and it alerts the user with brief vibrations to correct it.

The iPosture was developed by two Memphis-based physicians – Dr. Moacir Schnapp, a neurologist and pain management specialist, and Dr. Elma Schnapp, a physical rehabilitation specialist – and launched back in November. The device, which took about four years to develop, is what the Schnapps like to call a personal posture coach. Using nanosensor technology, it learns the user’s correct posture, senses when the user slouches by measuring the angle of the body and signals the user to correct his or her posture. And, what’s great about the iPosture is that it’s used during everyday activities, so people can work on their posture outside the gym. It’s designed to be worn for approximately four hours per day for the first two to four weeks in order to ingrain good posture behavior. Once a user learns to correct him- or herself, he or she will continue to do so even when not wearing the device. The iPosture can be worn as a pendant, clipped to clothing (such as a bra strap) or adhered directly to the skin.

iPosture product

The secret of the iPosture is WINS TM, or Wearable Intelligent Nano-Sensor, a microchip that monitors stance several times every second. The iPosture is worn close to the skin of the chest and operates on a coin-size battery. It warns the user when detecting any deviation greater than just three degrees from the chosen posture that lasts longer than one minute. Specialied software filters spurious movements, which allows the iPosture to adapt to a variety of activities and body types. It can be worn clipped to the shirt or bra, as a necklace, or attached to the skin with special adhesive patches.

One single button controls all the iPosture functions, and operating the device is easy. Simply put on the device, stand erect and hold a good, comfortable posture that you wish to maintain, and click the central button. The iPosture vibrates once, acknowledging that proper posture has been set. It can adapt to each person’s unique body type. The iPosture can be reset at any time to allow the user to fine tune their best personal stance, whether moving from a sitting to a standing position. You can pause the iPosture by pressing and holding the button for three seconds, or lay it down on the table to turn it off.

Inside iPsoture

I have worn this for the past week and I have to say it really works. I attached it to my bra strap and set my correct posture and then went about my day. Every time I slouched (which was a lot) the device sent out a vibration to let me know I was sitting or standing wrong. After feeling it I would then correct my posture. Yesterday I didn’t wear it but after a week of feeling the vibrations and correcting myself I found that I did it on my own. Every time I slouched (which was less than wen I started a week ago) I would catch myself and sit up straight. I love this product and wish it had been around awhile back. I recommend this to everyone who has a slouching problem, it really does help you straighten out.

The kind people over at iPosture have offered one for me to give to a Dirty Shirt reader. So if you would like the chance to experience a great way to help change your posture please see rules below for your chance to win one:

I would love to try this. I have abdominal muscular trigger points and because of the pain I started slouching. Now, my abdominal muscles have shortened and my back muscles have lengthened. I’ve been trying to reverse it through physical therapy, stretching and improving my posture, but it’s hard to break a habit of many years!
