You’ve become a new mother, and you’re excited, blissful, anxious, and completely exhausted all at the same time. You wonder: Will I ever sleep again? Is my baby eating too much (or not enough)? Will I ever have time to enjoy with my husband again? Everyone keeps telling you it will get easier- but are they just humoring you, or will motherhood really become less difficult?
This fun, frank, and helpful guide drives home the point that you are not alone-and that there are simple yet crucial things you can do to make motherhood a little more controllable and a lot more enjoyable. You will learn how to cope with issues such as:
- “The Talk” you need to have with your husband before you give birth
- What you really need to know about labor and delivery
- The importance of a baby schedule (no matter what anyone else says)
- The six Baby Commandments that can foster good eating and sleeping habits
- Five new-mom mantras that will keep you sane
- Body image after giving birth
- How to keep housework to a minimum
- And more
Complete with a glossary and a list of helpful books and websites, this funny, irreverent book will enable you to get your life back, as you enjoy your baby.
Claudine Wolk is a CPA and mother of three. She lives in Bucks County, PA with her husband Joe and her children, Joseph, Casey & Ally. She writes columns as well as magazine and newspaper articles on all subjects regarding motherhood in the 21st Century. She also is available for humorous but informative workshops on the subjects of “new motherhood” and “mothers returning to the workforce.”
This is a fun, quick witted book chock full of information for all new moms. It is refreshing to read something that doesn’t constantly tell you that everything will get better with time. We, as moms need to know the truth! This is truly a good book to read.

I’m about to be a mom for the 3rd time. The advice often runs together, but I think the best advice was to be as prepared ahead of time as possible. I have 15 meals frozen in my freezer, the clothes all ready, and am trying to nap as much as I can now since I know life will change once again in 3 weeks!

One piece of advice that has stuck with me is to stay calm as the baby senses your anxieties. I tried hard to work on this. Thanks for the wonderful giveaway

To sleep when the baby is sleeping! I was running around trying to get everything done, wearing myself out. My mom told me to just sleep when the baby did, and thought “why not?” What is the worst that could happen?
best advice ever- for me, at least!

Don’t take the baby to bed with you. Although I enjoyed it in the beginning now it’s 18 months later and he won’t sleep in his own bed.. not even for naps.

Sleep when the baby does… And also – if you MUST buy the cute baby clothes, buy them in the larger sizes, because people will give you all the cute tiny clothes you will ever need. And don’t expect to get your body back just because you’ve given birth – you don’t get your body back until your kid goes off to college. And then you don’t want it anymore.
