JumpStart is an award-winning adventure-based 3D virtual world that is super-personalized, wildly imaginative and really fun, but don’t let that fool you – it also teaches math, reading, and critical thinking skills so kids get a real jump start in life.

I am back, along with my daughter from a journey into the virtual world of JumpStart and boy did we have fun! I went in the world of Jumpstart with my toddler and had my tween watching for the fun of it, and I will have to say that JumpStart continues to make its way into one of my most trusted companies for children. From way back when my son was a toddler and on up I have used their software, games and now their online world to help my kids learn and play and I couldn’t be happier.

We first sat down and created a character that actually looked more like me than my toddler (I am a sucker for games that allow you to customize the way you look). After picking out clothes and hair color and style we were taken to making our name which turned out to be Jennifer Jolly Diamond. After that we started exploring the huge, safe, world of JumpStart.

My toddler loved pushing the arrow keys on my keyboard making our character run all over the place and even go into stores and dance to a jukebox. We saw many other players and were able to use emotioncons to say hi, she really had a lot of fun. My tween even wanted a chance to play it so we moved over while she roamed around. She even found a new area called Marine Land which we all had a blast playing in.

In it we found a place where my kids could play a reading or math game, a place you can choose level and difficulty. In the image above on the right you are in a ball and you have to roll across the field and find the correct spelling of a number. My toddler loved rolling around in the ball and that probably would have been enough but I was happy to help her figure out where to go. I love that she was learning in the process, even if it was a little over her head at the moment.

I love that my kids can use all this amazing technology to learn. Being a gamer mom myself I see the importance that these types of games have for education and have seen first hand with me just playing a game and my son point to a word on the screen and read it (this of course when he was much younger) but technology plays a very important role in my children’s education and being a homeschooler it helps me teach immensely!

The JumpStart blog is also the perfect place for parents to go to learn of contests, updates and so much more. I love companies that take a parents role in education to the next level and JumpStart products have always been for me, and always will be, a great resource for education. I HIGHLY recommend the JumpStart Virtual World to everyone, it is a great way to spend some quality time with your children.

I was provided with a JumpStart membership at no cost by Knowledge Adventure in order to test the products’ abilities and give my own personal opinions on it. The opinions I have given are mine and may differ from others but were not influenced by the company or the free product provided.
