It’s already hard enough being a parent without having to deal with the “foreign” language being spoken by your children and their friends. Whether texting “encrypted” messages, emoticons or slang, now you can LRNtheLingo and understand what they’re saying. It’s all here and easily searchable so you can spot the warning signs and deal with potentially serious problems.

Features:

  • Search either by code or English term.
  • Codes are not only translated (e.g., “Jacks” means “Cigarettes”), but also explained in detail.
  • Examples of common usage are given (e.g., “Can I borrow five bucks? I need to get some jacks.”).
  • Share any of these via e-mail with a single click.

My Thoughts

I am lucky to have a leg up on this topic, because I am a gamer girl I needed to learn the lingo quick running a clan for 4 years. So there was very little my son could get away with. But even though I had some knowledge things are changing everyday and this app has so many slang terms and emoticons and text shortcuts so I learned a lot of new phrases and terms. I have to say that this is THE app to have on hand, I have used it a few times to see what my son is talking about and it really has come in handy for that. I highly recommend LRNtheLingo to everyone with preteens and teens!
