Made Here Baby

As a parent, you would do anything to keep your children free from harm. So you want to be sure that the toys you buy for them are fun, well-made, and – above all – safe. Recent recalls of millions of imported toys have caused parents everywhere to be more concerned than ever about products that are manufactured overseas—and the materials that go into them. It is becoming clearer than ever that by buying more American-produced merchandise for our children, we can assure ourselves of its quality and safety.

Made Here, Baby! is a helpful and much-needed resource for parents who are determined to take control over the kinds of products they give their children. It is a practical, essential guide to more than 400 American manufacturers of toys, games, puzzles, hobbies, sporting goods, apparel, furniture, baby gear, bedding, and other items for children.  Complete with personal anecdotes and compelling facts about each company, this book will help parents, grandparents, and relatives find quality, locally made toys and products that are perfect for kids of every age.

Bruce H. Wolk

Bruce H. Wolk has developed more than 50 products for the children’s, natural foods, and pet products industries. He is currently director of marketing for a national research and promotion board serving the needs of hundreds of American companies. He has writtn for numerous hobby, trade, and general-interest publications. Wolk is a staunch advocate of American manufacturers of handcrafted wooden and fabric toys, and women-owned American manufacturing companies. He lives in Denver.

This book is a gold mine of information if you are searching for clothing and toys that are made right here in America. If you are like me, when the list of recalled items continued to grow I started really scrutinizing what my kids were playing with. This book is a very handy tool for that, and one I stand behind.

Made Here, Baby! is a valuable resource and I recommend it to everyone. I have been given the opportunity to help another parent realize just how valuable this book is by offering one for a giveaway. If you would like to add this to your collection of “Must Have” books then check out the rules below and enter today!

I am a grandmother so I didn’t have any toys to return because of recalls. I do not believe my son or daughter-in-law had to either. Thanks for the wonderful giveaway

We have sent back several recalls – all 3 were gifts… Havaianas flip flops, fabric Baby Einstein Blocks, and a fabric Infantino animal chime. Not as bad as my sister, whose child’s crib was recalled. This book would be awesome to have!

I am posting this message to simply say “thank you,” without making it appear as though I am pushing my book. I did not write the book for myself, but rather for moms, dads, and of course the 417 companies. I am also happy to report that at least 20 “new” companies have contacted me since the 1st edition was published, and I hope and pray there may be a 2nd edition. The message I would like to get across is that in many cases we really do have an American-manufactured choice. I know all of the arguments about price; in many cases the difference in price between an import and an American-made product is very slight. In terms of QUALITY, most imports can’t touch us. As for customer service, imports don’t come close. Made Here, Baby! has been a Labor of Love. I am grateful if I am just able to keep a few more Americans employed. I always like to hear from readers and from new companies.

I did, I had to get rid of my son’s Magnetix. He is too old to put them in his mouth, but I did notice that the bitty magnets came loose and we have a young nephew to worry about.
I explain to my son, who is nine, and he was okay with getting rid of them. Children don’t like the idea of harming others with toys. I think this is a wonderful book.
