Protect-A-Bed® supports the art of napping on National Napping Day
Napping is an art – an art studies show bolsters health and creativity. History has produced a legion of great nappers. Among them are Leonardo Da Vinci, Thomas Edison and Lord Byron, who after sweet slumbers achieved great feats of art, science and literature.
Is this a coincidence – this combination of greatness and napping? On this Napping Day, we at Protect-A-Bed think not. Napping Day is the first Monday after daylight saving time begins. It’s the day when the majority of us, a bit weary from losing an hour of sleep, desperately long for a short siesta. And, we here at at Protect-A-Bed believe you should cave to that longing.
Studies abound tout the benefits of napping, from enhancing memory and learning, to improving work performance, and increasing mental acuity and overall health. That’s why on the first Monday after daylight saving time begins, it’s fitting to celebrate the benefits of the nap and those who take them.

However, those who nap the best understand a sleeping place needs protection from allergens and dust mites. After all, waking from a nap with the sniffles is no way to wake up at all. Research shows 10 percent of the general public and as many as 90 percent of people with allergic asthma (depending on the study you read) have an allergy to dust mites. And, dust mites love spoiling our napping refuge, taking up residence in mattresses and pillows. In fact, as many as two million dust mites can thrive in an unprotected mattress.
Besides dust mites, it’s not unusual for other allergy triggers like pollen and pet dander to become trapped within mattresses. By using a mattress protector, allergy sufferers can create an impermeable barrier between themselves and the allergens within their bed. By coupling mattress protection with pillow protectors that seal allergens within pillows, people can create a virtually allergy-free nap space.
So today, harness the creative power that comes from napping, and embrace your inner Da Vinci. And remember, the art of napping needs a canvas, and that canvas comes from Protect-A-Bed.
Today only (Monday, March 15th), Protect-A-Bed will be hosting a Twitter contest where they will be giving away sets of Premium Pillow Protectors to those who share the funniest place they’ve ever taken a nap. To enter, follow @Protect_A_Bed on Twitter and use the hashtag #nappingday to share your funniest or strangest nap location.
And in honor of National Napping Day I am pleased to be hosting a giveaway for one lucky Dirty Shirt reader to win a Queen Size Protect-A-Bed Premium Mattress Protector for themselves. See rules below to enter today.
I will be receiving a Queen Size Protect-A-Bed Premium Mattress Cover from Protect-A-Bed as well as one to giveaway to one of my readers as part of a campaign for Global Influence.

I have one of these on my bed and I LOVE it. I would like to have one for my daughters bed too!
I remember when my daughter was little, maybe 3ish, she had played hard all morning and refused to take a nap. I was busy cleaning house and doing my daily routine and opted not to wrestle her over a nap. I knew when she slowed down for a minute she would be asleep. Going about my business I realized it had gotten quiet so I went to see what she was in to. What I found was so cute and so funny. She had been playing in the livingroom where she was putting her dolls to bed on the sofa. When I found her she had fallen over on the sofa asleep … standing up. Imagine a tiny 3yo, face down on the sofa asleep with both feet still planted on the floor. She gave a whole new meaning to falling asleep on her feet.
Under a six-foot-tall hoop skirt I was making. I used it as a tent.

DH and I were running errands with the kids yesterday and we hit the grocery store. One of the boys was sleeping soundly and we couldn’t put him in the cart, so Dh took him to the home section of Kroger signature store and sat in one of their comfy chairs. They slept for at least half an hour.

the only places I can think of is church and the movies
The funniest place I’ve fallen asleep is at a get together at my in-laws. Everyone was talking to each other and I just snoozed right off in the middle of it. In my defense, I was pregnant at the time.

I fell asleep in class while taking my midterms! It was so tired reviewing the night before and I just realized that I had snoozed when my prof came to my desk. Apparently, I had fallen asleep while answering my essay test – and half of what I wrote was gibberish!

I have to be in my bed to sleep. My husband though can and will fall asleep anywhere – in church, at movies, at friends playing cards, while driving…….. it’s really more annoying than funny.
I fell asleep outside in my backyard under the summer Florida sun on the day of my first date with my Husband! I was Lobster red for our first date! Luckily, he had seen me before and really liked me. Lol…If I hadn’t liked him so much I probably would have canceled.
I remember on more than one occassion I, or one of my sisters, would fall asleep at church under the pew and our parents would forget us there!!
