For those of us who love fine food, cooking is an art, and the knife is the artist’s brush. At New West KnifeWorks, we make our knives like we cook; we use the finest ingredients and prepare them with the patient hands of an artist. Each knife is a finely crafted masterpiece, a fusion of form and function.
New West KnifeWorks was founded by Corey Milligan and Michael Merriman as a partnership to design, develop, and produce knives for fine art and craft shows. From its inception, the goal has been not only to produce the finest quality knives in the world, but also to design these tools to be works of art that inspire excellence in food preparation and beautify the kitchen. The team has had much success in this mission. The knives have been accepted at many of the nation’s top juried fine art shows and have won several awards. Furthermore, the knives have been featured in many of the nation’s top publications. Michael retired from the company in 2005 to pursue a different muse. Corey has forged ahead on his own to continue the mission of creating the finest technical and aesthetic cutlery in the world.
It has been said that in order to survive in the kitchen you really only need two knives – a paring knife and a chef knife. The Fusionwood Petty knife challenges that notion. This classic Japanese blade shape works great as a peeling, paring, boning and carving knife for vegetables, fruits herbs and other delicate work. However, it will also take on some of the slicing and dicing jobs of a large chef knife. So, the next time you want to do some cooking on vacation, just take this versatile beauty with you, and you’ll be set. For those who don’t like using a full size chef this is the only knife you will need. The Fusionwood Petty knife comes in an embossed leather sheath.
- Blade Length 5 3/4 inches
- Overall Length 10 Inches
- Steel Type A-8 Japanese, high-carbon,stainless tool-steel. (HRC 58-59)
I found out about New West Knifeworks a little over a year ago, through a giveaway with one of my favorite food bloggers. I was chosen as the winner of a New West Knifeworks Chefs knife and it has changed the way I work in my kitchen. I can no longer use just plain knives when I am cooking it has to be my Fusionwood knife. When they say that it is the only knife you will need they aren’t just pulling your leg, you really don’t need any other!
These are not only the most durable knives you will ever use, but they are absolutely beautiful to boot! I am so happy with mine and I know you will be too. Please go to New West Knifeworks website and look around you will find something perfect that will Glam Your Kitchen! I highly recommend this company and their products!

I have a fetish for kitchen knives – I know, it’s kinda weird, but I just LOVE when they work well, because I love to cook. If I buy any more, I think The Hubs will throw me and THEM out of the house!!
Thanks for the review. These sound like really nice knives.
