I recently got the opportunity to stay with my family at the Nickelodeon Family Suites here in Orlando and I want to tell you all about the fun we all had during our stay.

Hotel

I have never been to the Nick Hotel and really hadn’t heard much about it, so I decided to see if I could add them to my expanding hotel reviews. I was thrilled when I got the offer and my kids were so excited I thought they were going to burst at the seams. So on the morning of the start of our “mini local vacay” as I called it, my tween was running around so excited and she got my toddler going and they wanted to leave right away. My husband and I figured why not, they have so much to do there so we headed out the door and down the road to the hotel.

All I can say is wow! I was super impressed as soon as we stepped out of the car. I loved the Nickelodeon characters everywhere and after check in we headed to what they call “The Mall“. Which is exactly what it was. Food courts, game room, restaurants, 2 stores, a kids spa and 2 theaters. And the food choices were great! They had a Subway, Pizza Hut, and even a Barnie’s Coffee. And they even had characters regularly coming in to greet the children. My toddler was in heaven and got to meet all her favorites. So we let the older kids loose and sat down to lunch and to plan our stay with all the shows and activities they had. One tip you NEED to know if you are planning a trip to the Nick Hotel – Some shows need reservations, so do that right away as they tend to fill fast! So after eating we made the following plans:

  • Got the kids unlimited passes to the 4D Experience – In this 73 seat theater guests can see shows like SpongeBob SquarePants, Extreme Log Ride, Dino Island, Deep Sea, Monster Trucks and Planet Earth: Shallow Seas. There are so many special effects such as wind, strobes, bubbles and more, and experience neck air, leg ticklers and scents in the seat effects they offer. My kids absolutely loved this and since it is a paying show it is best to get the unlimited pass as it lasts through your stay. My kids went multiple times, especially to the ones that were their favorites.
  • Dora & Diego’s Animal Jam – This is also a show that you not only need reservations for but you have to pay to see it. You pay for your child and for every child you get two adults in for free. This is worth it, trust me! My husband and I took our toddler while the other kids went to see a few 4D shows and she just loved it. When we walked in I was surprised by what I saw. They offer apple juice and animal crackers right when we walked in and the room was decorated so nicely. We watched the show, played games, made some crafts and got her face painted. All that and photo ops with Dora and Boots and Diego made it a show worthwhile, and seeing my daughter so excited and happy made my day.
  • Dora Diego

  • SpongeBob’s Daily Birthday Celebration – Since both of my daughter’s birthday’s were within 30 days of our stay we were able to partake in the daily bash. We got a birthday picture with SpongeBob and each of the girls got to eat a cupcake. It was a very nice touch as everyone with a birthday got to do this, and had my birthday been within 30 days I would have celebrated mine too!
  • SpongeBob SquarePants

  • Nick Live Goes Wild! – This show comes free with your stay but they fill up fast! We made our reservations and we loved this show! I have to say that this one was the best show by far but that is because we were in it! Yep that’s right we were one of the participating families and let me tell you it was so much fun! I don’t want to go into too much detail because if you are planning a trip I say go to this and try to be a participating family, you will have a BLAST!!!!!!!! And my son, being team captain of the winning team (YEAH US!)  got slimed, and he loved it!!!
  • Yeah Family!
    Slimed! Rinse Off

SpongeBob Nail

Now those were just the shows we signed up for and participated in but that by far was not all we did. I think I need a vacation from my vacation to just relax there was so much to do and I wanted to pack as much stuff in as possible. Now of course you don’t need to do that, and I did have some relaxing moments. Like when I took my tween to the Kids Spa in the Mall and had a nice relaxing chair massage while she was getting her nails done. And I was surprised that the nail manicurist was able to paint a SpongeBob SquarePants on her tiny little nail. She did an amazing job on it and my daughter loved it. My son, daughter and I also got temporary air brushed tattoos while we were at the Kids Spa and it was a fun experience.

We loved our room too, and both my husband and I agreed that it is most definitely the way to stay at a hotel with kids. We had their 2 bedroom suite decorated in SpongeBob SquarePants. These rooms can sleep up to 6 people and have a semi-private kids bedroom with bunk beds and a 20″ television. The adult bedroom is private and had a king bed, a 25″ television, desk and a safe, as well as a full closet. The family room was just great. It has a sleeper sofa, a chair (which by the way was so comfortable I want one just like it) a LCD flatscreen TV, a table and a kitchenette with a sink, mini-refrigerator, microwave and a coffee maker. This room was so nice and comfortable and didn’t make us feel like we were right on top of each other. I was even able to put my toddler down for a nap in the other room and she was able to sleep because it was away from the noise.

Room 2 Room 3

While she slept and I relaxed a bit (see I told you I was able to  :) ) the kids and hubby went swimming and they were able to partake in the mass sliming that happens twice a day. They got a kick out of that. And they loved the water slides and water play area that is at the Lagoon pool. I almost couldn’t get them out of the pool but after they watched the live poolside show they got hungry. So we got ready for a nice family dinner at the Nicktoons Café, where we had the Seafood Buffet. The food was good and we filled up very quickly. My toddler loved everything too, so much in fact that she even ate a blue crayon they gave her to color with. Kids…..

Lagoon Tower Mass Sliming

My older kids spent a lot of time (and money) in the arcade where they got to play Guitar Hero Arcade, in fact they played that so much that the songs got stuck in my head. The only thing we did not get to do was go to the Character Breakfast, but it is on the top of my list for next time.

Oh yeah, and one more thing, they do offer bus transportation to and from Universal Studios and the Walt Disney World Resort. I recommend every family stays at the Nickelodeon Family Suites and you will have the “Slime” of your life. And after a small bump in the beginning of the trip (which was promptly and wonderfully taken care of) we had so much fun and will remember this trip for a long time to come.

  1. Even though we’re Disney fans, after spending a day there with friends, we’re totally interested in staying at the Nick Hotel too. I agree that the suites are the way to go. We’re hoping to do this next summer. Now I have lots of info to share with my husband and daughter thanks to you!

How fun! My husband and I don’t have kids but it looks like even we could have fun there!! We’re huge Disney fans and go to Disney World every year, so we’re kids at heart.

We are going there in under a month. The only thing I am disappointed in is that the Lagoon Pool play area will be closed that week for renovations! Is the other pool still satisfying enough for a 3yr. old w/ no fear? Is SpongeBob around alot also? My son is so excited to go to his “house” and stay!

There is another pool here is some information on that:

The Oasis Pool – A Crazy Water Getaway.

Dive into wet and wild activities at the Oasis Pool, a water park featuring a heated Olympic-sized pool with exciting water slides and flumes in a multi-level interactive water tower, a kid’s play area and poolside cabanas. Located on the west side of this entertaining Orlando family hotel, the Oasis is a sunny sanctuary with refreshing water and slippery slides. At the tower, kids plunge down the twisting, turning flumes that splash down into the Oasis pool. Tots can play on low-level slides in the kid’s play area, and preschoolers delight in the splash zone. Take a break from the sun and cool off with tasty ice cream or frozen beverage from the Snack Bar.

    The Oasis Pool Features

    * Olympic-Sized Swimming Pool – With Slides & Flumes
    * Kid’s Play Area – With Wet & Dry Activities
    * Pop Jets and Splash Zone – For Water-Happy Preschoolers
    * Snack Bar – With Poolside Snacks, Sandwiches, Ice Cream & Frozen Drinks
    * Complimentary life jackets are available on a first-come, first-served basis
    * Height Requirement – For Oasis Pool Slides Is 48 Inches. Guests 40-48 inches tall must wear a lifejacket to ride

    Kid’s Play Area.
Young kids love the wet/dry pre-school play area with a five-foot slide and Nick Jr.-branded water activities

    Pool Snack Bar.
Whet your appetite with sandwiches, munchies, frozen drinks, alcoholic beverages, and ice cream treats. Open seasonally.

And we saw SpongeBob about 7 times when we were there, he is in the shows, the character breakfast and then out in the mall quite frequently.

Hope that helps :) And have fun!

@Jennifer You may be able to call ahead of time I am not too sure about that.

  8. Congratulations on receiveing an amazing opportunity. Loved your review. We’ve been debating for some time going there but it seem so un affordable with our budget. * kids scream every time they see the commercial*
IS there a better time of year to get a better rate? My husband is laid off 5 months out of the yr so we are available to go then but it all depends on our funds. I think our kids are at a good age too.

We love that place!!! We’ve had days where the kids wanted to skip the parks n just stay there. After r first visit in nov 2005, my oldest begged to go back so bad she said she would skip Disney!!! We went in 2008 loved it and r planning to make it next years summer vacay. Fun for entire family (4 kids, 13, 11, 8 & 8). They really know how to do it right!! They had some option where u could buy a cd of all ur family pics they took during your stay. We didn’t know until we left but bought it. If I knew earlier I would have posed for more pics because there was always a Nick photographer. If they still offer it, ask when reserving or ckg in.

We are planning our first trip to Disney with our 3 children, we are torn do we stay on Disney or at the Nick Hotel, I’m worried if we stay at Nick Hotel, we won’t want to leave to go to Disney, what do you think? How far of a shuttle ride is it to Disney from the hotel?

  12. Natalie says:

All I have to say is we stayed at the Nick Suites 3 times! We still love and most likely going again for a fourth time!!!
