Obama: The Historic Journey Review

Obama Book

Many of us shared Barack Obama’s inauguration with our children, explaining to them the significance of the day and appreciating the fact that we could all take part in such an important moment in history. Of course, the time leading up to that day was no less significant.

Throughout it all, The New York Times captured Obama’s journey, sharing with us a story that began in his childhood and carried through his swearing in as our 44th President. This book, which comes from a compilation of that coverage, was adapted for young readers to give our children a better look at and deeper understanding of the life of a man who has touched the lives of so many Americans and reached young people in a way that so few leaders today can.

Interwoven with the story are a collection of gorgeous and moving photographs that truly capture the essence of Obama, his work, his family, and the journey that led him where he is today. As beautiful as it is meaningful, this book is important not just for us and our kids, but for future generations as well.

After going through this book on my own I understand that it is a great detailed showcase of what it took Obama to make it all the way to the presidency. Not only is it a great compilation but it will be an immense help in teaching my children all about Mr. Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States. I recommend this book for adults and children, for anyone wanting to know what it takes to make a president.

Thank you MotherTalk for introducing me to this great book and teaching tool.
