SpellQuizzer is a product of TedCo Software which was founded by Daniel Hite. Dan started working as a corporate software developer in 1995 and formed the software business Auction Sentry Software in 2001 developing and marketing the popular eBay user utility called Auction Sentry. The software was highly successful and in 2007 was awarded the People’s Choice Award at the Software Industry Conference. Dan sold the Auction Sentry Software business at the end of 2007 to focus on his newer educational products such as SpellQuizzer, which is a spelling program to help children learn their spelling words.

When I took on homeschooling my children I felt like I took the world and put it on my shoulders. Being responsible for their education is a huge undertaking and one that I could not do without programs like the SpellQuizzer. This software is a great addition to my kids curriculum, such a time saver for me and a great help in the homeschooling department. It makes a great addition to any spelling curriculum, homeschool or not. If your child is in school then you can use this program to supplement what they are learning at school.

Making Lists

Creating a list is super easy with this program and it allows me to make separate lists for all the words we use. And with my kids being in two different grades I can make lists that they both can be quizzed on. The possibilities are endless and you can even you can download pre-made spelling lists for SpellQuizzer from their web site. My 10th grade son isn’t a fan of spelling, especially if it is words from a textbook, so SpellQuizzer has helped him by allowing me to custom make his lists. And since my 4th grade daughter reads at the 7th grade level I can add more words to her lists and make them challenging too.

Quiz Time

The quizzing part of this software is great! If you filled out a remember phrase it will display like the example screenshot. Then all you do is click Play Word and your child will hear audio of the word and the word used in a sentence, which you record. This program is fully customizable, you can create the lists and record the word spoken as well as use the word in a sentence. If they spell the word correctly they will just move on to the next word. If, however, they spell it wrong a box will pop up with the word spelled correctly in green and the way your child spelled it in red. Giving them that visual I think is important. It has really helped my son along. He learns better with visuals.

My Thoughts

I really like this program and it has made teaching my kids so much easier in the spelling department. And what makes that even better is the fact that I can now do away with the textbooks they didn’t like. Working with the SpellQuizzer program has also allowed me to focus more time on other subjects they need more help in. I recommend this program to everyone! For homeschoolers it helps out so much, and for parents whose children go to school this is a great supplement to their spelling classes and even allows you to make a few more challenging words.

I have been given the chance to also giveaway one license for the SpellQuizzer software to one Dirty Shirt reader. Please see rules below to enter:
