My family would always go to the lake during the summer months. One thing you could count on was the red ants being out in full force. You had to wear shoes or else suffer the consequences. Well, my sister, although she had on flip flops, could not avoid the bite – one red ant bit her toe and she screamed like a banshee. I know, this is not all that funny, but it is when you are a child
and you did not get along, or particularly like, ones sister :)

We landed in St. Martin and I could not find my passport anywhere. We went back on the plane and looked and it was no where to be found. They were going to send me back to the US on the next flight bc I had no passport to show. I was sitting in the airport crying when I grabbed my husbands book and the passport fell out. He had used it for a bookmark!! We can laugh now but it was not so funny at the time :)

  3. Debbie G says:

Not sure it is funny but we took our first trip to the ocean and my attitude filled teenage son would not even get in the ocean…sat on the beach with an attitude!

  4. Mary Happymommy says:

I remember going to Disney World and my son was too scared to have his picture taken with Sully from Monsters Inc. His reaction was funny.

  5. Elena says:

We took our 4 year old son to Disneyland and watched the outdoor performance there. Our son was so excited, he was dancing, singing and got more attention than singers on the stage

  6. Cynthia R says:

going to harry potter world and being just as excited as my 13 year old cousin. loved that place, had a lot of fun.

  7. deanna says:

We flew to Miami for a cruise, but our bags flew to Orlando. Luckily, we arrived 3 days early and I bags came hours before we went to board the cruise. We left to FL from UT so we were at the beach in jeans.

While vacationing with my grandparents, I was in one of those showers with the button on the wall that you push for water. Of course, the water stopped while I had a head full of shampoo and for the life of me, I could not find that button to start it again! My grandmother ended up having to get undressed to avoid soaking her clothes and jewelry and stepping in with me to turn on the water.

Many years ago, we were heading to Florida from Michigan with the kids and stopped at a place in TN. It was a very weird place, something that seemed like out of a movie. The people gave us terrible looks and we felt uncomfortable. We stayed and my husband laid next to the window to keep an eye on our van. The next morning, I had gotten up and left to go get coffee and some donuts for the kids. He heard the van and tore out of the room chasing ME thinking someone took off with our vehicle and he was in his underwear and all. The kids got all scared thinking someone stole our van so at the time, not too funny to them.

  12. Janet W. says:

I remember when we got soaked while at Sea World… gotta love the FL showers. Anyways, since we were so wet, but still walking around the park, my husband’s thighs were rubbing and starting to bother him. We all thought it was so funny because he looked like he was walking with a corn cob up his bottom because he was trying not to let his legs rub.

  13. We had taken a camping trip with the kids.It was Saturday morning at 2am in the morning when the noise of pounding woke us up. We immediately figured it had to be someone from the camp across from us that were partying very loudly when we went to bed. A couple of the men were obviously very drunk and a bit rowdy. Neither of us wanted to get up and deal with drunks so we tried to ignore them but the knocking continued until finally we got up and answered the door. Instead of a drunk it was my 11yr old. I thought he was sound asleep in the bunk bed beside us. The kids are not allowed out during the night without waking one of us to go with them so in my mind it couldn’t be one of the children. But it was. He had diarrhea in the middle of the night and had made a dash to the main facility to use the bathroom , unfortunately he didn’t make it. So I open the door to an upset foul smelling child instead of a 40 yr old foul smelling drunk. I can still see the expression on his face when I opened the door, he was very upset to say the least. Of course making him stand on the front stoop of the cabin knocking for 10minutes I’m sure didn’t help.So off to the facilities in the main building again for the second time but this time to use the shower with one unhappy child and one tired mom!!! LOL

going on family trip to new orleans before hurricane katrina on a chartered bus and the bus driver didn’t know where he was going and we had to give him directions while singing spirituals to keep us safe

  17. Jessie C. says:

DD was about 3 on our long fly trip to Japan years ago, an hour after boarding she told every single stewardess they were beautiful and were all like princesses, this was the best day in her life to meet them.

  18. Stacey B says:

Unfortunately we haven’t had the chance for too many family vacations, but a funny event from the outside was probably watching me to try manage my 1 yr old and 5 yr old, plus all of their belongings, on a 3 hour plane flight… I was by myself, not easy!

  19. vickie couturier says:

funniest would be when my husband was driving us to a amusement park an we got lost an he drove around for over 3 hrs before he would stop an ask for directions,,by then I was so mad I made him take us back to the hotel

  20. D Schmidt says:

My funniest memory is when my parents had planned this fantastic beach vacation that turned into a nightmare. On the first day we realized that the hotel was actually less than desirable so my parents at short notice managed to find a caravan to stay in. It then rained for the whole 9 days we were there and I managed to come down with Chicken Pox! That said it was fun just being a family

  21. Charlotte says:

We went on vacation to visit family. They had a neighbor with a farm right next door. They let us go on their farm to walk around, and look at the animals. Well we were allowed in with the horses, and cows. We were walking for a few minutes then all of sudden we noticed a bull about to charge at us! We took off running as fast as we have ever ran in our lives! That bull was running just as fast right behind us! I was just a little kid then and just knew in the back in my head one of us was going to die! Then all of sudden we seen a wagon we were able to jump on (Thank God) just in the nick of time! That bull ran furiously by us! Our hearts were pounding I think 500 mph! We were in shock. My brother had been in a different spot filming the whole time with his camera. We looked over at him after the whole situation, and he was laughing! He knew we wasn’t hurt, so I guess it was hilarious to see our face expression, and us running that fast! We watched the video back and it was pretty breath taking, and priceless seeing us run from that bull. Needless to say I think we’ve learned our lesson to never step foot on a farm again, without checking first to see if a bull is around.

I remember driving to Florida with my family when I was younger and we had brought my brother’s friend along. I kept trying to talk to them, I guess, and the friend continuously said “shut up lauren, shut up lauren.” Sounds less than funny at the TIME I’m sure but it’s an amusing memory now.

  24. Jessica To says:

The first time my son stayed in a hotel he was about 3. He kept saying he would do everything when we got home because he didn’t understand that we were staying there for days.

  25. Jennifer Marie says:

A few years back we drove to SC and I had to sing bard yard songs with animal noises to keep my son entertained on the 12 hour trip home.

  26. Rachel H. says:

When my grandma was alive we were on vacation with her and we were on a hike. There was a place that had a plaque honoring some scouts who were killed there. This was modern day boy scouts but I guess my grandma thought it was old time scouts that would go find land for people to build on. Anyways, we were reading it and she asked what it was about and when we said it was honoring scouts that had died there, she asked, “What happened? Did the Indians get ‘em”? It was hilarious at the time and one of our favorite memories of her!

  27. Michelle C says:

When my daughter was younger we were having dinner at a nice restaurant at the beach. I ordered a Chicken Caesar Salad, but she thought I asked for a scissor salad and started freaking out! We’ve been calling them scissor salads ever since…Thanks for the chance to win!

On the way down to see my brother in Florida we got lost in a ghetto looking part of New Jersey at night and my mom lost it. She was freaking out and we just couldn’t stop laughing. It was hilarious!
