Tickle Me Plant Review And Giveaway

Ever See a Plant Move Its Branches and Leaves, When You Tickle It?

ticklemeplant

What is a TickleMe Plant?

Native to Brazil, TickleMe Plants can be found growing wild there and in other tropical areas. The scientific name for the TickleMe Plant™ is Mimosa pudica. It also has been called shy grass, sensitive plant and other names throughout the world.

How To Grow a TickleMe Plant

Now you and your family can grow your own TickleMe Plants™!  I have been growing TickleMe Plants™ with my sixth grade students and family for over 30 years.  Imagine the amazement of your friends, family or students when your living TickleMe Plant™ closes its leaves and lowers its branches as you tickle it.

Materials:

  • TickleMe Plant™ Seeds
  • Flower pot or cup with hole on the bottom
  • Soil

Directions:

  • The day before you plant your seeds, soak them in warm water overnight
  • Fill a flower pot or cup ¾ of the way with soil
  • Plant three to five seeds by covering them with 1/8 inch of soil
  • Water your seeds gently
  • Place your newly planted seeds in a room that receives bright light or sunlight for part of the day
  • Temperatures in the room should be above 70 degrees
  • Water before the soil dries out
  • That’s it! Your plants will begin to grow in less than a week.

The first two leaves will not be ticklish. In about three weeks, the second set of TickleMe Plant™ leaves will appear and they will move when you tickle them. TickleMe Plants™ are best grown as house plants and can even be placed in a bright location outside during the warmer months. They are frost sensitive, so be sure to bring them inside before the cold weather arrives. The sensitive plant seeds of the TickleMe Plant grow to produce beautiful pink cotton puff ball flowers. TickleMe Plants™ can live for a year or more and grow to about one foot plus in height. The Four great things about this plant are:

  • The plant MOVES when you Tickle It. The leaves close and the branches droop when the plant is tickled.
  • It can be grown indoors year round.
  • It sprouts in less than a week and the leaves will move when Tickled, in less than a month.
  • It produces pretty pink cotton candy like flowers.

You have got to see these plants. My kids laugh every time the leaves curl up and my neighbor’s kid laughed and thought the plant was hiding. These are great for your child or a whole classroom. You can purchase one, a family greenhouse or a classroom greenhouse. These would make perfect Christmas gifts for anyone, these plants will help teach your kids about gardening and they will be hooked on it. My daughter loves gardening.

TickleMe Plant products can be found at http://www.TickleMePlant.com and in all the major botanical garden and science museum gift shops in New York, Chicago, Denver, Atlanta, Longwood, Camden and more. TickleMe Plant products also can be purchased from the top educational websites and catalogs such as, Teacher’s Source and Edmund Scientifics.

  25. If I won the Tickle Me Plant, it would be kept at my house but it would belong to our granddaughter, who visits us on the average of once a week. She is two, and I think this would be a great project to get her started in gardening.

We have a sunny windowsill just above the kitchen sink that would be the perfect spot.

And, just because I’m fascinated by a plant that will react so dramatically to our touch, I intend to name it Audrey, in tribute to Little Shop of Horrors. :)
